Join our experienced crew on board Copihue

Copihue is looked after and operated by a permanent crew of three. Her Captain for over ten years now is the vastly experienced ocean yachtsman, Michael Symes. Michael has sailed all over the world from the Southern Ocean to the Nordic fjords and across the world’s most hostile seas. He has safely guided novice crews round both the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Horn. An RYA Ocean Yachtmaster Instructor and Examiner, he has now given up the cramped cold bunks of training boats for a more luxurious berth.

Michael is assisted on deck by First Mate Allister. Having enjoyed the nomadic life for some years sailing and living on his own boat around the Mediterranean, he is now enjoying being part of the Copihue team and keeping the deck beautifully maintained and running smoothly.

Copihue’s stewardess is Alison  who joined the team in 2011 after three years living and sailing in the Caribbean. Along with helping on deck when called on, Alison looks after the interior of Copihue and will take care of you and your guests providing delicious meals, snacks and drinks.

Together Michael, Allister and Alison make a welcoming, experienced and professional team to look after you throughout your time on board Copihue.
